MY PROBLEM WITH THE PICTURE-PERFECT HOME

My problem with the picture-perfect home is that it doesn’t exist. Not in real life.

We are bombarded all day long with picture-perfect homes, and picture-perfect lives and when we get home and we find a REAL-LIFE home that actually allows real life to happen we are disappointed and resent our reality.

Creating “the picture-perfect home” is a crazy expectation we set upon ourselves.

There is no such thing as a perfect home, specially when kids come into the equation, but my kids are what make my home MY HOME, they are what makes it perfectly imperfect.

I’ve been doing interiors for more than 15 years, believe me when I tell you that I’ve seen spaces where family life only happens in one designated/restricted space of the house.

Real life is limited to really happen within 160 square feet of a home because real life needs to be livable, real life gets messy, real life can get cluttered.

Why?

Because in people’s search for the perfect home, they have only focused on achieving the magazine-worthy, Instagram perfect, Pinterest inspired room that doesn’t actually work FOR real life.

This is what I want you to know about real home decor.

That’s why today I’m taking a stand for real-life homes:

Having a space I can actually enjoy, that invites real life to happen, lets me relax and lets my family be is EXTREMELY important for me.

But I refuse to be a part of the community that pushes perfect homes that don’t actually allow real families to live them.

We have enough pressures as it is nowadays. I’m saying no to creating unreal expectations of what our homes should look and feel like.

I’m not going to make you resent the home you have.

I commit to making it ok to not have the “perfect home” you are seeing on Instagram or Pinterest.

I’m here to motivate you with real spaces that are beautiful and livable. I want to show you how you can create your own beautiful real life home.
